Best leaving gifts you've seen?
Main Post:
The person I line manage is leaving so I'm sorting out a leaving gift.. I have no idea what to get so I've come here to see if anyone has any ideas on CS centric, satirical, leaving gifts?

The best gift you can get someone is a framed photo of them that they weren't aware was taken.
It works even better for Secret Santa as they don't know who gave it to them either.
When leaving a job you like, what kind of gifts for coworkers are appropriate?
Main Post:
I've been at my current job for about 18 months. I am leaving because I found a job with better pay and hours. However, I really like my current three coworkers and I feel guilty about leaving them. What kind of goodbye gifts should I get them?
Maybe a better question is: what is the best/most useful gift from a coworker you've ever received?
Edited to add: I should have mentioned that these are literally my only three coworkers. I work in a shop within a small community, so it's not like an office or anything. We're not super buddies, but we do see each other out in the community and I like them personally. Also, I am the boss, so yeah, I think I should feel a little guilty. I'm not a sociopath ffs

Dear Reddit, what are good DIY going-away gifts that can provide closure to a long-term friendship?
Main Post:
A very dear friend of mine and I are leaving for college in about two weeks. The problem, though is that we're both moving to the respective towns we're attending college in and they happen to be 7 hours away.
We both know that the last day we will see each other is August 14th, and I wanted to get a gift for my friend that will show her how much she's meant to me and is something that she can keep for a long time.
I was thinking about making a picture frame and then putting a collage in it that details our friendship (pictures of us, mementos, inside jokes, and generally things dealing with our friendship) but I'm worried that it will seem trivial after a short period of time. I wanted something that would allow her to remember us years from now.
I just want to be able to walk away from our last day together not overly-emotional and knowing that my gift has been helpful to her in dealing with the fact that we may never see each other again.
If you've ever dealt with a similar situation, I'd also love to hear about it and how you dealt with it!
tl;dr Have you ever had to give a long-term going-away gift and, if so, what did you do/ what are some suggestions for such gifts?

Farewell gifts?
Main Post:
Hey guys, so I'm finishing up my contract and heading back to my home country. What are the customs regarding farewells? Does the person leaving give people gifts? I am the generic ALTTM, and I have a lot of schools, so I was planning on getting each school a box of food omiyage. However, for my office, since they've helped me out over the years, I'm thinking of getting them something individually. Should that be food, nice alcohol, or something else? Lastly, I have the farewell party coming up this week, but continue to work for another couple weeks before officially leaving. Should I bring something to the farewell party (like a nice bottle of sake) for the group, and then later something individual?
Of course, I may be overthinking this entirely; regardless, please impart your wisdom! I've tried searching on Google and on other subreddits for information, but it's rather sparse....

Generally, edible gifts are the most pleased because they don't balky in small Japanese room and people are not so fussy about foods than other stuff such as accessories.

Bringing sake for the group is good idea, but some people don't drink alcohol at all, so something non-alcoholic food such as tea, cookie, chocolate for eating during rest time at office is also pleased, especially by women.

Personally I'd put together a little gift box of things they love from home. If they like candles or a scent or incense that smell like a scent home has get them that or a diffuser with oils of that scent. Snacks they like that you can't get where they're going. You can get so many ideas for things by going to etsy or Amazon d just typing in your state and gifts. Personally I'd get like a blanket that reminds them of home too. Maybe a little photo album of things and people from home? Just things to remind that person that although they're leaving, they'll be missed and remembered.
I just started the goodbye gift for my best friend.
Main Post:
He's been my best friend for almost three years. I adore him so much, and saying goodbye will be really hard. I'm moving back to my home country for university, he's staying where we are currently.
I thought he'd leave last year, but he ended up staying, which I'm extremely grateful. I would explain what the gift is, but he knows my reddit account and I don't want to spoil the surprise. I really hope he enjoys it :')
Has anyone else experienced a really tough goodbye recently? How did you handle it?

I don't really have much to add, but I think it's sweet that you're giving them a goodbye gift. I'm sure he'll enjoy it!

A piece of their hometown. Like a plushie wearing the local sports team colors. Or a sign for a local pub or restaurant.

Yo, are you an intern who’s completed their internship? Or a grad who is moving on?
Anyways, I’d probably fall into the demographic of the people you’re looking to gift and I can safely say that most people do not have expectations of farewell gifts.
My suggestion would be - chocolates (a box below $10 would be fine), or even the Starbucks instant coffee (Christmas range is lovely, below $10 if I recall correctly).
I’d suggest not to go for digital gifts like vouchers because these guys (your recipients) would be drawing a salary higher than yours (my assumption) so... really, don’t need to gift them digital currency. I’d be quite paiseh if my intern or junior gave me a voucher to spend on something. Can do $10 Starbucks cards if you wish, but in my experience, it’s usually the superiors who gift such stuff.
It’s the thought that counts!
Reddit, what is a memorable gift for girlfriend leaving to another country in a week?
Main Post:
Been together with her for a year, she's leaving for studies in a week time. I am optimistic about our future together despite the challenges or LDR.DIY items are out of the question because of my exams, but I'm looking to get her something that's meaningful and memorable enough. Any suggestions?

A teddy bear.
My last girlfriend traveled frequently to visit family, every trip she would find a new bear to cuddle with while I wasn't with her.
Goodbye gift ideas / What were the coolest things you got?
Main Post:
Hey you all, I have been to exchange to Brazil and leaving was really hard but back then for me. And now I have a good friend from Brazil and he will go home now in July. So our squad found that it is a good idea to give/make him something so he has a memory for all the good times...
That's where I need your help, what did you get as goodbye gifts or your fellow exchange friends? Do you have any cool and nice ideas? Or have you done sth for someone else?
I am looking forward to read (or see pictures) about it and getting inspired by creative ideas!
Thank you allready in advance!! 😊

In my school, exchange students usually buy a canadian flag and let all their friends sign it with little notes. A friend of mine had a book where everyone could write or draw something.
Good goodbye gift for a friend heading to basic training (military)?
Main Post:
He's leaving on Monday and I'm out of ideas

One of the best things is write him when he is in basic training. Tell him about all the stuff that goes on in your day. Basic is hard and getting mail is a great moral booster. Let him know you haven't forgotten him.
